Canon’s New EOS-1D X Flagship DSLR Arriving In Late June

Canon finally releases its latest top-end DSLR camera on 20 June, according to the latest updates from Japan.
After being announced last October, there has been a considerable amount of slippage from the camera’s original target street date of March, which was later revised to late April, which Canon also missed.
Priced at £5,299 and aimed at the serious enthusiast and professional market (especially sports photographers), the EOS-1D X may only be available in small quantities to begin with, increasing gradually over the summer.
The late-June launch coincides with the release of various EOS-1D X accessories, including the WFT-E6B wireless file transmitter, LC-E4N battery charger, LP-E4N battery pack, L7 wide strap and EC-CV focusing screen. A GPS receiver add-on (the GP-E1) is expected in July.
The EOS-1D X is the tenth generation in the EOS series, hence the X in the name. The body has a dual grip and, among a host of pro features, it offers full frame sensor and a maximum High ISO rating of 204,800 (its native ISO range is 100-51,200).
The shutter mechanism has been overhauled along with enhanced dust reduction. Shutter speed ranges from 1/8000 to 30 seconds, with up to 12fps in continuous shooting mode. HD video records at 1080p resolution. It has new autoexposure and 61-point autofocus systems, three custom settings groups, a nine-shot multiple exposure mode and an Ethernet port.
